Snakeskin Agate

This material appeared on the market many years ago, and has most often been labeled Fire Agate.

We believe, however, that this name resulted from an incorrect translation from Chinese to English of “Fired Agate”. That is because we understand that this is a heat treated Agate, and that the heat treating is what gives the material its beautiful honeycomb type appearance. The surface of the stone, however, is completely smooth.

After discussions with some dealers, and considering the patterns seen in the stones, we believe that “Snakeskin Agate” is a more appropriate name for the variety.

At the Denver fall 2012 show, we acquired some fantastic larger versions of these beautiful palm stones, and were happy to be able to add them to the choices shown below.
