Dog-tooth Amethyst (Grade AA)

It is rare when we run across something completely unexpected that makes our jaws drop. This Dog-tooth Amethyst did it in Tucson.

Even though Dog-tooth and Chevron Amethyst have some similar characteristics, the two stones are different. The points in Dog-tooth are finer, and the banding that is present in Chevron is not seen in Dog-tooth. Many sellers who claim to be offering Dog-tooth Amethyst are really selling Chevron.

This particular material was mined over thirty years ago, and was eventually imported to the United States from Germany. Only about 1% of the raw stone that came in made it to this finished state.

This is AA grade material, and has color that can only be described as incredible. We are very proud to be able to offer these drop dead gorgeous stones to our clients.
